A little blessing named Mason

Things in life don't always happen the way you plan. But I believe everything happens exactly as it should. Heidi had a baby and his name is Mason Mark Rasmussen. He came into this world on Septempber 11, 2014

This was not an easy thing for Heidi, in fact I cannot even begin to fathom the emotional and physical agony it must've been and still is. But Heidi is strong willed and when she knows she's gonna do something, by golly she's gonna do it.
The whole pregnancy she didn't want to have to see him after delivery, she gets attached to things and she knew that seeing him would make her want to keep him and she knew that was not the best thing for him or her. But as soon as she got to hold him, she changed her mind. She wants to be a part of his life, she wants to see pictures of him as he grows up. This was her son.
We all got to take turns holding him. He was absolutely perfect. Barely any marks on his face, his eyes were open and wandering around the room. People thought he was a C-section baby because his complexion was so perfect. But no, he just came out with 3 pushes ;)
The adoptive parents are Heidi's roommates cousin's and she couldn't have picked a better family for him. They picked the name Mason but allowed Heidi to pick the middle name.
She felt that our grandpa Homer, who has been beyond the veil for many years now, was with her the whole time. She decided to use his middle name for Mason's middle name. Mason Mark.
Getting to hold him was so fun, you can't not love a brand new baby!
Kellianne sure looks good with TWO kids doesn't she? Sadly Keith was in Japan and wasn't able to share this remarkable weekend with us, but Miles sure did love holding Mason.
Ryan bought a flight the second we texted him at 3 in the morning saying that Heidi's water broke. It took him all day to get to Utah due to long layovers and an accidental missed flight, but he came. And he loved holding Mason too, making him more baby hungry than he already is. Hopefully he and Leah decide to have another one soon!

This little opportunity sure brought us a whole heck of a lot closer, it was a very silly but also spiritual weekend.
Mom loved holding Mason and she got quite attached to him, sometimes it was hard to remember that he had another family to go to and we only got him for a little while.
After the papers were signed and Mason joined his new family, the Rasmussen's, Heidi checked out of the hospital we all decided to go to the temple (in 4 cars, hahah why did we have so many? Who knows) but we couldn't think of a better place to go after a hard trial like the one we just experienced? Families are forever and I sure am lucky to be a part of this one. I decided that we are kind of like The Avengers. We don't get all together a lot, but when we do we use teamwork to do hard things and kick butt. I wish we lived a lot closer so that we could do more things together more often. But having it this way almost makes it sweeter. I'm grateful for my family, I love them far greater than words can describe.
After the temple we went home and ordered take-out from Outback Steakhouse, which was like the cherry on top. YUM.
PS I'm pretty sure the amount of money spent on food this weekend is pretty close to the same amount that the hospital cost! Hahah
