Today was such a great day. I don't know why but I just had a good vibe the whole day. I even LIKED school today! weird.. I know. But the I think the best part of my day was... well let me tell you.

I intern at Canyon Gate Dental working for Dr. Payne and Dr. Young. The assistants there are Tia, Mariah, and Jen. Then there's Marin the hygienist. And Allison and Katie who are in the front office. I honest to goodness LOVE all these girls with all my heart. Not to mention the doctors! They are so funny:) I feel like even though it's a serious and professional workplace, we are such goons! We can all be silly around each other and we all have respect for one another. It's not a typical office where there are cliques and the assistants hate the front office and there is tons of gossip... no my office is NOT like that. I LOVE MY OFFICE.
Anyway,
Last Friday Doctor Young said he had something to ask me on Monday, well all weekend long I was wracking my brain thinking what could he POSSIBLY want to talk to me about? Well I found out.

When I first came in, Tia asked me if I wanted to assist on a certain patient that we'd be doing a 3 unit fixed bridge. Assist. Not observe. I would be the one assisting the doctor ((by the way it was Dr. Payne today and he's just a little bit more intimidating than Dr. Young)) and normally interns would be uneasy and say, "uh... well.. maybe"
But I said, "Yes I'd love to!" And I really did want to! I was just a tiny bit nervous but I knew I could do it. So I walked into the room with Tia and she introduced me to the patient "Sally, This is Amy, and she's new to the office blah blah blah"
wait a minute. She didn't say she's the intern.
She said "She's new to the office..."
hmmmm...
 Anyway, I assisted the doctor and it went really well! I made the temporary crown all by myself, shaved it down, polished it, I even cemented it in! In my mind I sang to myself, "I'm a big girl now" you know the pull-up little jingle? Yeah that one:)

After the patient had left I was cleaning up the room, Dr. Payne says, "Hey Amy could I talk to you in my office for a minute?"
Tia and Mariah poke their heads around the corner ((like a totem pole)) and they both go, "ooooooooooohhhh," you know like people do when you're in trouble? "somebody's in truuuu-ble!" I bluhsed. Took off my gloves and followed the doctor into his office. To make a long story short ((too late)) He hired me!! Yes.. for only Wednesdays but that's when they are busiest and that's when I can!
I walk out of his office, TRYING to hide my giddiness and fighting the urge to do a celebratory dance, I walk into the sterilization room where Tia and Mariah are.
I walk in. They both turn and look at me.
Mariah: "So, what did you get in trouble for...?"
Me: "I uh.. got in trouble for doing a terrible job on that crown..."
Mariah and Tia: "Nuh-uh!"
Me: "ok ok you got me.... I'M WORKING HERE ON WEDNESDAYS!!"

*All of us scream because we are so excited*
Mariah and Tia: "We know!!"
Me: "You rats! You knew!!"

They went on to tell me how long they'd know about it and how BADLY they'd wanted to tell me but they couldn't because DR. PAYNE wanted to tell me.They told me that about 90% of their meeting the other week was about me and how everyone had only good things to say about me. And Mariah told me that she ALMOST told me the day after but she caught herself. Then Jen walked in and says, "Do you know... HOW LONG we had to keep this from you?! We all wanted to tell you so bad! The day after the meeting we were like can we tell her yet?! But the doctors said no... because THEY wanted to tell you"
Then we were all so giddy and happy for the rest of cleanup, then we all went our separate ways.

THEN

I had a missed call from my Grandpa so I called him back and he asked me to come over for minute. Being the way I am I immediately think the worst... Oh no he's mad at me... I did something wrong. My mind is just going crazy as I drive over there.
I get there and he says, "Seeing as how you're going to be Miss Orem and that's kind of expensive... you might need this," And he handed me some cash! Totally unexpected! Totally undeserved! My grandparents just love me. And my cute grandma with her little shriveled cancered body says, "Well, as you can see *lifts her hat showing her bald head* I don't go to the salon anymore, so we had some left over money!"
What did I do to deserve this? I don't know but I absolutely LOVE my grandparents and I am SO blessed to have them. And I'm blessed to be in such a wonderful office that I look forward to working at, life is just good.
